Heredity, Survival, & Selection unit updates
Revised Lesson 4: Why do some animals live in groups?
3-LS2-1. Construct an argument that some animals form groups that help members survive.
The hands-on activity for this lesson is staying the same. The revision is focused on the exploration and phenomenon of the lesson. Many teachers commented that we never answer or address the question “Why do dogs wag their tails?”. The standard and activity are focused on social animal groups. Now the revised phenomenon and lesson question are also focused on animal groups, creating a more cohesive and engaging lesson in which students figure out the answer to the lesson question through the activity.
We’re always listening to reviews, to what’s happening in classrooms, and to what teachers & students need most. With a growth mindset at our core, we continually fine-tune our lessons to reflect strong, research-based practices.
