Why did Mystery Science make these Kindergarten updates?
Pushes & Pulls unit updates
Revised Lesson 3: How can you knock down a heavy wall?
- K-PS2-1. Plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object.
- The hands-on activity for this lesson is staying the same, but we have revised the exploration and wrap-up. The exploration is now focused on the strength of pushes, asking students to actively consider how a big push is needed to move a heavy object while a little push can move a light object. The prior lesson was also missing a wrap-up, which has now been added.
We’re always listening to reviews, to what’s happening in classrooms, and to what teachers & students need most. With a growth mindset at our core, we continually fine-tune our lessons to reflect strong, research-based practices.
