While it's possible to use an interactive board, such as a Smartboard, when showing the Mystery Science videos, we have heard from teachers that some issues can arise. For instance, extensive buffering, as well as poor video and sound quality are both known issues when using a Smartboard with some websites, including Mystery Science.
Although the support we are able to provide is limited to issues that arise from the Mystery Science website, hopefully, the information below will prove helpful.
When using a Smartboard to cast the videos, please check first to see if you are able to play the videos on the originating device, i.e. your laptop or tablet. If the video plays on the device but not your Smartboard, then see the information below.
- Open the browser you are experiencing trouble with and visit html5test.com.
- Press the blue "Save results" button on the left-hand side a little below the top of the page.
- A notification will pop up, reading "You can see the results here:" -- please copy and paste the entire blue link and send it to us using our contact form. Sending this information to us will help us determine where the issue is coming from and how to find the best resolution for you.
One other thing to note: if you are able to play the videos successfully from your originating device, but not when casting to the Smartboard, it's also a good idea to reach out to your technical department for assistance with any questions you have. Additionally, if you are using a Promethean smartboard, you can also check out their troubleshooting website found here: https://support.prometheanworld.com/s/?language=en_US
