We understand the needs of teachers can vary greatly. Some might be teaching in a classroom, others at home, and some may not even teach science as a primary subject, so we've created Mystery Science in such a way as to benefit a wide variety of teaching scenarios.
Mystery Science as a Curriculum
Our lessons are aligned to NGSS standards and we provide crosswalks for multiple states to adapt this to their state standards. When being used as a curriculum, our lessons are intended to be taught in order, with each lesson building upon one another and the scientific subjects they offer.
We also offer assessments and additional anchor layer content for teachers that really want to dig in and go deeper with our lessons. You can even add an additional mini-lesson here and there as a brain break or just a fun quick video to share with your students!
Mystery Science as a Supplement
What if you don't need a full curriculum? Is there still value in Mystery Science for you? Absolutely!
Many educators use Mystery Science as a supplement to other subjects they may be teaching or for other special situations. As a curriculum, our lessons are usually taught in order, however, they also function well individually, so you can easily teach any of our lessons when you want to add a little science to your day!
You can also easily choose an activity from our library to demonstrate scientific topics without needing an excessive amount of supplies, as our activities use supplies you can find easily online or at your local store. We recommend our supply packs for larger classrooms or classes that follow our full curriculum. However, they are not required, and you can select a single activity from our lessons without needing to perform the activities preceding or following it.
