New Unit! Lesson 1: Why do some sea creatures look so strange? (4-LS1-1)

Why did we develop this lesson?

Mystery Science partially covers 4-LS1-1 in our Human Body unit and this lesson expands that coverage to encompass additional animals and their adaptations. In particular, students make careful observations of sea creatures to explore their external structures.

This lesson encourages students to use the evidence they gather in the hands-on activity to construct an argument that the different structures of an animal work together as a system to support an organism’s growth and survival.
